How good are things going for David Cohn right now? We will say that they couldn't possibly be going better for the 6'2 2013 guard from York Township High School in Elmhurst, IL, both from a team and individual standpoint. That is because York secured their 12th straight victory tonight by defeating Lyons Township 59-50 in a key battle in the West Suburban Silver conference. As far as we are concerned, York should be a lock to land a top four seed in the Class 4A sectional at Schaumburg.
Individually speaking, there is no question that Cohn has played a huge part in York's success, which is why he continues to attract considerable recruiting attention. In fact, Cohn received the ultimate compliment that a player can get from a D1 coach--tonight he received a scholarship offer on the spot.
Cohn's latest offer comes courtesy of Wright State University, as it was extended by Raiders head coach Billy Donlon after he and assistant coach Clayton Bates took in Cohn's performance at Lyons Township. Needless to say, it was Cohn's outstanding effort that prompted the offer, as he came away with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Also in attendance tonight to see Cohn was Illinois State University head coach Tim Jankovich. The Redbirds offered a scholarship to Cohn back in October. In addition to Wright State and Illinois State, Cohn also holds offers from Illinois-Chicago, Colorado State and Valparaiso. At the present time Cohn is undoubtedly one of the hottest recruiting commodities in Illinois from the 2013 class.
Getting back to Wright State, under the direction of Donlon, Bates and assistant coach Chris Moore the Raiders continue to do an outstanding job of recruiting the Land Of Lincoln. They already have a 2012 commitment from 6'5 forward Jacoby Roddy from Manual High School in Peoria, IL and are also targeting a number of 2013 prospects in Illinois. There is also a possibility that they could be looking to fill out their 2012 class with yet another Illinois-based prospect.
