University Of Illinois Lands Fourth 2017 Commitment From Underrated Big Man

New University Of Illinois men's basketball coach Brad Underwood and his staff have been targeting a number of quality big men to become part of their 2017 recruiting class from the moment they arrived on the scene in Champaign.  And as it turns out, they may have found exactly the guy they are looking for.

Illinois Prep Bulls-eye says this in light of the fact that 6'9 2017 power forward Greg Eboigbodin from Jesuit High School in Detroit has committed to the Illini and Underwood after taking a campus visit earlier today.  Eboigbodin made the announcement official via his Twitter account. Our Illini Recruiting Insider Ryan Evan was the first to report that Eboigbodin's commitment to Illinois was imminent in his periscope over a week ago. Illinois Prep  Bulls-eye was the first to predict the commitment.

Folks may remember that Eboigbodin previously committed to the University Of Illinois At Chicago while Ronald "Chin" Coleman was still an assistant there.  However, when Coleman left to become an assistant on Underwood's staff at Illinois in April, Eboigbodin received his release, thereby reopening his recruitment.

Make no mistake about it--this one has always had Coleman's name all over it.  Not only was Coleman the lead recruiter for Eboigbodin at both UIC and Illinois, but the relationship between the two has been so strong from the get-go that Eboigbodin never really considered going anywhere else.  As he has done throughout the state of Illinois, Coleman has developed strong recruiting connections in Michigan and this proved to be the difference with respect to enabling the Illini to land Eboigbodin.  There was simply a level of trust between Coleman and the Eboigbodin family that was unequalled elsewhere.

Eboigbodin is a rebounder extraordinaire and that is the area in which he excels the most.  He is also athletic, runs the floor well and his long frame aides him in being a good shot blocker.  And above all else, Eboigbodin knows how to win, as his Jesuit team finished 28-0 last season en route to winning a state championship.  Eboigbodin competed on the travel team circuit for The Family.

Eboigbodin becomes the Illini's fourth 2017 recruit, joining 6'4 guard Da'Monte Williams of Peoria Manual, 6'2 point guard Trent Frazier of Wellington, FL and 6'5 point guard and Illinois Mr. Basketball winner Mark Smith of Edwardsville. Another player who will also be part of the class is 6'5 2-guard Mark Alstork, a 5th year grad transfer who transferred from Wright State.

Editor's Note: Illinois Prep Bulls-eye also credits our Illini Recruiting Insider Ryan Evan on being instrumental in breaking the news regarding Eboigbodin's commitment.  Ryan was the first to report that Illinois was involved with Eboigbodin this past Sunday night on his periscope.
