Chicago State head coach Tracy Dildy has consistently left no stone unturned when it comes to recruiting the state of Illinois whether it be at the high school or JUCO level.  His hard-working efforts have paid off yet again.

We say this in light of the fact that Dildy and the Cougars have secured a commitment from 6'5 2017 wing forward John Joyce from Triton Junior College in River Grove, IL.  Joyce's commitment was first confirmed to us by Triton head coach Steve Christiansen.

Joyce has started all but one game for Triton so far this season and is averaging 8.5 ppg for a team that is currently 21-1 and one of the best in the NJCAA Division 2 ranks.

Before coming to Triton, Joyce starred as a high school player at Taft in Chicago and on the traveling team circuit with Illinois Old School.  He is a fundamentally sound wing who is effective in transition, as he handles the ball well, can get to the basket and is a good passer.  Joyce also has the ability to convert shots from 3-point range although he can be streaky in that area.

With Joyce's commitment, he becomes Chicago State's third recruit in their 2017 class.  He joins 6'2 point guard Simeon Henton of North Chicago High School in North Chicago, IL and 6'7 center Leonard Caples of North Lawndale Charter School in Chicago.  Dildy will look to add one more 2017 recruit.
