Robert Knar Recruiting Update: Has Offers, Is Planning Fall Visits

Robert Knar, a 6’1 2013 shooting guard from Mundelein High School in Mundelein, IL enjoyed a terrific summer on the traveling team circuit while playing for the Rising Stars Gold 16-Under squad.  He played extremely well when we watched him at the King James Summer Classic during the early part of the July evaluation period.  And he may have been even better at the 16-Under National AAU Tournament in Kissimmee, FL, as he averaged 27.5 ppg.

Despite turning in solid performances throughout July, Knar remains one of the more overlooked players in Illinois from the loaded 2013 class and is wondering what more he needs to do to attract increased recruiting attention.  However, there are schools that have begun to take notice.

At the present time, Knar holds scholarship offers from Albany, Bucknell, Valparaiso, Northern Iowa, Santa Clara and Toledo.  He has also heard from Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, Dayton, Wisconsin and Boston College, all of whom have sent multiple letters per week.

With Fall just around the corner, Knar has already planned out a number of upcoming visits.  He plans on visiting Valparaiso, Bucknell, Northern Iowa, Illinois State, Illinois and Santa Clara during that time span.

There is no question that Knar is one of the best pure shooters in the state regardless of class.  But he is far from being one-dimensional.  In addition, Knar is also capable of creating off the dribble and is an excellent passer in transition.  To top everything off, he carries a 4.0 gpa in the classroom.

Dick Knar, who is Robert’s father and also the varsity boy’s basketball coach at Mundelein, describes his son above everything else as a winner.

“The bigger the game the better he plays,” Robert’s father said.
