For fifteen years the Riverside-Brookfield Summer Shootout under the direction of R-B Varsity Boy's Basketball coach Mike Reingruber has been the premier summer high school basketball team shootout in Illinois.  That is something that is not about to change any time soon.  Unless, of course, one is talking about how it gets better with every year.

Once again, Reingruber has assembled a stellar field of top Chicago area boy's high school basketball teams which is sure to make this year's rendition of the shootout another must-see event.  It will take place the weekend of June 3-4 at Riverside-Brookfield High School in Riverside, IL.

As always, the field will be spearheaded by the top powerhouses from the Chicago Public League, including Simeon, Whitney Young and Morgan Park, with Curie, Kenwood, Uplift and Bogan also being strong CPL entries.  The Chicago Catholic League is also well-represented, as this past season's state runnerup in Class 3A--Fenwick--Class 2A sectional finalist DePaul Prep, Class 4A sectional qualifiers Loyola Academy and St. Rita and traditional power St. Joseph are all among the participants.  New entrants in this year's field include Uplift, St. Ignatius, and 2-time defending Missouri state champion St. Louis Vashon.

Looking at the pools, the strongest one could arguably be Pool B, which will have the likes of Fenwick, Hillcrest, Kenwood and Loyola Academy all going head-to-head with one another.  We are also intrigued by the grudge match that will take place in pool C at 11:00 AM on June 3 between St. Joseph and St. Patrick.

While there is a plethora of talented high school teams, the shootout is also not short on talent from an individual player standpoint.  In fact, Illinois Prep Bulls-eye's #1 and #2 ranked players in both the classes of 2018 and 2020 are all expected to be in attendance. We are talking 6'4 2018 point guard Ayo Dosunmu from Morgan Park High School in Chicago, 6'5 2018 2-guard Talen Horton-Tucker from Simeon Career Academy in Chicago, 6'2 2020 combo guard Nimari Burnett of Morgan Park and 6'0 2020 point guard Elliott Sieger of DePaul Prep in Chicago.  Loyola Academy has one of the top incoming freshmen in the state in 6'5 2021 wing Patrick Baldwin Jr.

Pool play begins at 8:00 A.M. CST on June 3 and will run until 6:00 P.M. that day.  The second day on June 4 will feature a bracketed tournament with each team seeded according to their finish in pool play.
