The following is all of the significant recruiting information that Illinois Prep Bulls-eye has learned while at the 17-Under National AAU Tournament in Orlando. Please keep in mind that this information pertains only to players from the state of Illinois.

6’1 Brandon Long from Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, IL, who has been burning the nets playing on the Full Package squad, is drawing heavy interest from Illinois-Chicago, Evansville, Ball State, Bradley, Southwest Missouri, Indiana State, Bowling Green, Western Illinois and Northern Illinois.

Rapidly improving Pat Nelson, the 6’9 center from Jefferson High School in Rockford, IL who plays with the Rising Stars, has a recruiting list that includes Wisconsin-Green Bay, Loyola-Chicago, Southwest Missouri, Western Illinois, and Northern Illinois. Nelson performed quite well at the Kentucky Hoopfest in Louisville earlier in the month and has done the same in Orlando.

6’2 Full Package point guard D.J. Posley from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, IL has been offered by Jacksonville State and Lipscomb. Other schools that are giving Posley serious looks include Western Illinois, Columbia, and Dartmouth.

6’3 Rising Stars forward Emmanuel Gaiter from Waukegan High School in Waukegan may end up going the JUCO route, but that has not stopped a number of mid-major programs, including Illinois-Chicago , from recruiting him hard.

Add Ball State and Niagara to the list of schools who are now pursuing 6’7 Illinois Wolves forward Chris Cornelius from Oak Park-River Forest High School in Oak Park, IL.

Niagara is a school that is really starting to recruit the Chicago area hard. In addition to Cornelius, they are also looking closely at a pair of guards who play on the Rising Stars, those being 6’2 shooting guard Ryan Paxson from Lake Forest High School in Lake Forest, IL and 5’11 point guard Mike Kolze from Lake Zurich High School in Lake Zurich, IL.

6’4 junior Devan Bawinkel has looked impressive playing on the 16-Under Illinois Wolves squad and as a result several big timers are on his trail. Purdue and Iowa are among the schools who have been watching his every move in Orlando. The Hawkeyes have offered, as have Marquette, Wisconsin, and Northern Illinois Northwestern, DePaul and Illinois are among several other schools that are showing strong interest.
