We have just learned via e-mail from his parents that 6'6 Conrad Krutwig from Jacobs High School in Algonquin, IL has verbally committed to the University of South Dakota. Krutwig chose the Coyotes over offers from Lewis University and Wisconsin-Parkside and also received heavy interest from schools in both the Missouri Valley Conference and the Horizon League as well as from a slew of D2 schools.

Krutwig sited the tremendous opportunity to join a program playing its first season of Division I ball in the new Great Western Conference, as well as the outstanding new facilities on the South Dakota campus as the major factors in his decision. He also hit it off with all of the coaches, and knew upon his visit to the campus that his total experience of being a student-athlete would be given highest priority.

Illinois Prep Bulls-eye labelled Krutwig as one of the most improved players in Illinois' Class of 2009 over this past spring and summer, primarily due to his outstanding play on  the 17-under Illinois Wolves traveling team at the King James Classic in Akron, Ohio at the end of April.  Krutwig has always showed us solid offensive versatility, as he can post up and face up with a consistent fifteen foot shot.  However, what most impressed us with his improvement was his passing skills, overall knowledge of the game, and desire to add strength as well as play physically at both ends of the floor.

Krutwig also played well throughout the summer at the Reebok Proving Ground Combine in Chicago and the Desert Dual Classic in Phoenix, Arizona.  We firmly believe that the South Dakota coaching staff will continue to make recruiting inroads in the Chicago area in the future, and with that being said we believe that Krutwig is a steal for head coach Dave Boots and the Coyotes.
