Will Sullivan, the 6'2 class of 2011 shooting guard from York Township High School in Elmhurst, IL has several college programs showing serious recruiting interest as the result of his strong start to the 2009-10 high school season. Sullivan has turned in some splendid performances at the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic. He scored 20 points when we watched him in York's 53-46 opening round overtime win over Palatine and also did an outstanding job defensively in the second half guarding Palatine's Michael Orris, who has shown us that he is one of the top back court prospects in Illinois from the class of 2012.
Sullivan followed up his performance versus Palatine with a 33 point performance in a 62-50 third round consolation bracket game victory over South Elgin. He also scored 33 points earlier in the season in a West Suburban Conference matchup versus Proviso West.
As the result of his outstanding play, there is no question that college coaches are taking notice. At the present time, Sullivan is receiving strong recruiting interest from William And Mary, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Loyola-Chicago, Miami-Ohio and Western Michigan. According to Mike Mullins, the head coach and CEO of the Illinois Wolves traveling team that Sullivan plays for, coaches from all of these schools have been in to York to watch Sullivan at the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic.
In addition to being one of the premier shooters in the state from the class of 2011, Sullivan has an extremely high basketball I.Q. and as we already pointed out, is also a terrific man-to-man defender. York head coach Al Biancalana, who is unquestionably one of the top high school basketball coaches in Illinois, has said that he believes Sullivan could end up as the best high school player that he has ever coached, which we consider to be extremely high praise.
