There were a number of players who enhanced their profile with their play in open gyms during the Fall recruiting period. One name in Illinois that is right at the top of that list is Ben Moore, a 6’7 class of 2013 forward from Bolingbrook High School in Bolingbrook, IL. It is therefore no wonder that several coaches from both the D1 and D2 levels poured through the gym doors at Bolingbrook during September and October.
Moore is a true diamond in the rough who is just starting to scratch the surface with respect to reaching his potential. He runs the court like a deer, has great mobility and is a consistent finisher at the rim. He has good mid-range scoring ability and is capable of facing up as well as playing with his back to the basket.
Off the court, Moore is miild-mannered and extremely courteous. To top everything off, he is a hard worker who is focused on becoming even better. What Moore must continue to work on is getting stronger and expanding his shooting range even further.
Recruiting-wise, Moore currently sports a scholarship offer from Indiana-Purdue-Ft. Wayne and has already taken an unofficial visit to that school. He is also receiving heavy interest from SIU-Edwardsville, Northern Illinois, South Dakota State, St. Louis and Northern Iowa as well as from plenty of D2 programs.
Moore teams with one of the top 2015 prospects in Illinois in 5’11 combo guard Prentiss Nixon. Bolingbrook opens their season at the loaded Decatur Team Soy Turkey Classic in Decatur, IL and is a team that is capable of surprising quite a few people between now and next March.
