There are plenty of wing prospects in Illinois from the class of 2014 with bigger reputations than Ore Arogundade. But few if any have been more effective and consistent during the first half of the high school basketball season.
Arogundade, a 6’3 2-guard from St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights, IL is a major reason why his team sports a 12-2 record as they head into the New Year. He was impressive at the recently concluded Wheeling Hardwood Classic, including a 17 point outing when we watched him in a quarterfinal loss to eventual tournament champion Naperville Central.
Upon first glance it is plain to see that Arogundade is extremely well-built. Arogundade is strong, has a high motor and a tremendous feel for the game. Not only is he highly athletic (he was also a wide receiver on the football team as a freshman), but he can handle, rebound, finishes well and is an effective passer on the break.
Right now the only question mark with respect to Arogundade’s offensive game is the consistency of his perimeter shooting. Nevertheless, when we watched him at Wheeling he demonstrated that he has 3-point range.
We believe that Arogundade has been one of the more overlooked 2014 prospects in Illinois and that he is actually close to ranking among the top ten prospects in the state from that class. There is no question that he is a D1 prospect.
